Duncan sat at a table that would fit ten people even though two only used it. He wanted to keep it that way, he didn't want children, they turned into horrid monsters that he couldn't handle. He just hoped Joanne felt the same way. His forest green eyes searched for Joanne, who was late to dinner. She always seemed lost, he hated it. If she wasn't going to pay attention, then why should he even bother. He took his knife and started to cut the food in front of him. His black hair was a mess as usual, but he couldn't do anything with it, and it's not like Joanne cared. He has on tan pants with a white puffy shirt tucked in. His black shoes were brand new since the other pair were ripped up. He didn't want to point finger, but there was a cat name Tiddlywink who he wanted to blame for it. He sighed and put down his knife. Forgetting his manners his put his elbow on the table so his head could rest on his hand while he waited for Joanne.

Joanne hurried into the dinning room. She had lost track of time while she had been walking around the house. She looked at Duncan and then casted her eyes down. "I'm sorry I'm late," she said in a softly voice. She walked over to her set and sat down. Her brown eyes stared down at the food. She was wearing a light purple dress with black trip. The dress showed her shoulders but not her arms. Her cherry blonde hair fell around her shoulders. She looked up at him and smiled softly. "How was your day?" She asked her voice still soft.

Duncan watched his wife hurry into the room and sit down. She seemed distraught, but he pushed it aside. "It was good I guess. The King is pushing his luck with me though." he sat up. He ate a bit of his dinner but had to stop. It didn't help them fighting silently, someone had to say something. "I would just like to know why my wife can't make it to dinner on time." he stated staring at the top of her head. It was the easiest way to talk to her without looking in her big, brown eyes.

"I'm sorry...I just keep loosing track of time," Joanne said looking up at him. Though she was talking to him she seemed to be far off in her own thoughts. Her hair fell into her face a bit but she moved it aside. She looked back down at the table and said nothing more.

"You know there might be some balls coming up soon. You might want to go to the tailor and see about new dresses." he changed the subject. He looked back down and started to eat again. He didn't want to get into an argument right now, he needed to have a clear mind for the plans he was going to start making soon. He finished all the food he was going to eat and looked back up at his wife.

She nodded. "Alright. I'll go see him tomorrow," She said not looking back up at him. Joanne's mind seems to be on nothing but Scarlett. She was very worried about her and wondered how she might be doing. She ate slowly not looking up at Duncan. She pushed her hair back out of her face a few times and finially looked up at him.

"Why is your head so full of things these day? he asked. He stared at her coldly, but tried hard to soften his gaze just a bit. He wanted somehow to break through to her. If something didn't start happening soon, he would be afraid she might leave him. She shook his head in disgust of even thinking that. Without him, she would have no money, life, or home.

"Its really nothing," She said giving him a fake but real looking smile. "I'm just a little worried about you," She said looking into his cold stare. Joanne didn't really like it when he stared at her like that but what could she do. He was her husband after all. She started to eat a little more and closed her eyes a bit before opening them again. Joanne wasn't going to leave him the thought had never crossed her mind but she did think she should try to act maybe a little happier around him.

"Why would my wife be worried for me? If anything, i should be worried for you. You always seem lost and that is just not proper." he said looking away from he. He was afraid his stare was scaring her. He was getting quite mad and need to leave before it got any worse. "Anyways I must be getting to bed. Tomorrow I must go with the King to look for a new slaves and such for the castle. Goodnight." he said. He quietly walked out of the room without a wave, hug, or kiss.

Joanne put her silver wear down and stared at the table. She was worried about him and everything. He seemed to get more angry everyday and now he wasn't even kissing her or hugging her before he went to bed. She rested her head in her hands and then started to get up to walk around for a while. Act happy around him. Stop being late for things. Make him happy, she thought as she started to walk down the hall. She debated going to bed or walk more. She decided to go to bed and atleast relax a bit.
